Je me rappelle mon coup de gueule sur l’eau suite à ma prise de conscience que certains Autochtones pouvaient vouloir instrumentaliser le droit et la religion à travers des pratiques ancestrales. J’étais évidemment déçu d’y trouver un désir de domination. En même temps, bien sûr, je comprends le réflexe de vouloir prendre sa place de la même manière qu’on leur a enlevée.
Sinon, ma suggestion est que vous écriviez une constitution pour votre Nation. Vous aurez une constitution et un code d’éthique auxquels vos représentants se référeront pour leurs décisions et orientations. Les consultations publiques devront respecter l’une et l’autre. Chaque Nation se retrouvera avec une sorte d’acte constituant et un genre de système de lois à l’image de la communauté. Très structurant. En même temps, cela devient aussi un geste d’affirmation identitaire qui doit se moduler avec les autres Premières Nations et avec celles du Québec et du Canada.
C’est ma suggestion.
Les traumatismes engendrés par les autres qui nous définissent font un mal considérable et profond. Assez inexplicable. Cela engendre une colère sans fin, une révolte sans limite. L’autre nous nie et, en plus, nie notre droit à exprimer notre frustration qui lui semble irrationnelle.
Se définir comme personne et comme peuple est essentiel à chacun, chacune. Sans cette base, impossible de s’adapter.

I remember my rant about the water following my realization that some Indigenous people might want to instrumentalize law and religion through ancestral practices. I was obviously disappointed to find a desire for domination there. At the same time, of course, I understand the reflex of wanting to take one’s place in the same way it was taken from them.
Otherwise, my suggestion is that you write a constitution for your Nation. You will have a constitution and a code of ethics to which your representatives will refer for their decisions and orientations. Public consultations must respect both. Each Nation will end up with a sort of constituent act and a kind of system of laws in the image of the community. Very structuring. At the same time, it also becomes a gesture of identity affirmation that must be modulated with other First Nations and with those of Quebec and Canada.
That is my suggestion.
